HOME TOUR 02 Art House A bold interplay of form and feeling defines this dynamic Bondi home, blending sleek design, layered warmth, and curated character.
SITCHU MAGAZINE When a busy professional couple with two kids moved into this Bondi home in 2021, they quickly filled it with furniture — but something was still missing. While the house had gorgeous bones, it lacked the personality that would make it feel like their own. Enter Claudia Lambert, Head of Studio at Claudia Lambert Interiors, who brought the space to life. It was actually the couple’s teen daughter who encouraged them to take the leap and give the home a makeover. “The bones are gorgeous, lots of concrete and wood, so my job was easy — putting a beautiful outfit on a model,” reflected Claudia. “We began with art, as I love to do,” she explains. “Once we bought that first piece (Belem Lett), the ball was rolling. We used it as a palette.” From there, the design took shape, pulling together cool concrete, warm wood, and natural stone to create a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. The design quickly evolved into something truly special. Claudia, known for her ability to bring out the best in a space, focused on creating a dynamic flow that wasn’t just visually striking but also functional for family life. “We chose the slab for its movement and energy,” she says of the custom-made dining table by Nomi. “It plays off the cool concrete and warm wood, balancing browns in the stone with lavender and chrome chairs — such a lovely mix.” The home feels alive with colour and texture at every turn, but the vibe shifts as you move from room to room. The basement, for example, was transformed into a cinematic retreat, drenched in rich blues that set the perfect mood for movie nights. “The space became a whole new vibe with the use of deep tones,” says Claudia. “It’s a place to relax and unwind, with layers of texture that feel luxurious yet comfortable.” The carefully chosen materials bring a sense of warmth without sacrificing the home’s sleekness. “There are plenty of hard lines, so I used curved edges where I could in order to soften the space,” Claudia shares. From the living room to the dining area, everything has been designed with both form and function in mind. “I wanted the space to feel dynamic with plenty of places for the eye to travel,” she adds. It’s clear that the art played a crucial role in shaping the entire atmosphere. Claudia’s approach to curating the collection was a hands-on, immersive process. “I’m most proud of it,” she shares. “This is sometimes the hardest part, but my client was open to all genres, and we had a great time falling deeply for all the works in the home.” For Claudia, art isn’t just décor — it’s the soul of the space. Even the smallest changes made a huge impact, like the window treatments. “It was an absolute game changer,” Claudia admits, referring to the decision to swap black roller blinds for soft cream linen sheers from DrapeCo. “Something the client wholeheartedly agrees with.” That shift alone softened the light and brought a sense of warmth to the space that hadn’t been there before. Ultimately, this home strikes the perfect balance between high design and true comfort. As Claudia says, “Houses are to be well lived in — sit on the good sofa, use the expensive throw, light the good candle.” And in this Bondi beauty, every corner invites you to do just that — live beautifully. 10 HOME DESIGN How to Create the Ultimate Cosy Home this Winter Warm up your space in style with the cosiest winter home trends, from moody hues to texture, lighting and beyond.
Looking for more home design inspiration? For styling tips, interior design trends and roundups of the hottest new furniture on the market, visit sitchu.com.au/home-design 11 Play with Texture in the Living Room Texture is the secret to a truly inviting living space. Think plush velvet, chunky knits, buttery-soft wool and shag pile accents layered across sofas and cushions. To keep the look cohesive, opt for a tonal colour palette — it allows the textures to shine while maintaining a calming, elevated feel. The result? A space that’s rich in depth, warmth and comfort, and just as good to sink into as it is to look at. Add Curves to Your Bedroom Curved silhouettes are having a design moment, and your bedroom is the ideal place to lean in. Swapping in soft, rounded furniture (like a sculptural bedside table or curved headboard) instantly creates a sense of calm and understated luxury. Ground the space with a textured rug in a contrasting tone or pile for added warmth and depth. You’re left with a perfectly balanced room that blends softness with structure, and comfort with elevated, design-led style. Go Natural for the Great Outdoors Don’t neglect your outdoor space this winter — with a few cosy upgrades, it can be just as inviting as your interiors. Think timber or rattan furniture layered with earthy-toned cushions and throws, plus ambient lighting to set the mood. For extra warmth and wow-factor, create a simple DIY fire pit using old bricks and a steel bowl. Add potted greenery to soften the look, and you’ve got yourself a snug, stylish outdoor escape worth braving the chill for. Embrace Moody Tones for a Winter-Ready Study Colour sets the tone for any space, and in winter, deeper shades can transform a study into a cosy, cocoon-like haven. Think rich browns, forest greens or inky blues to create a grounded, serene vibe. Add a reading nook if space allows — a curved, textured armchair and woven throw will invite you in, whether you’re deep in emails or escaping with a good book and hot tea. Zoned Corners Use an occasional armchair to define cosy nooks or reading zones, especially in open-plan layouts. Choose one with soft curves and warm tones to add both shape and tactile comfort while subtly dividing the space. Pair it with a side table and floor lamp to craft a styled, inviting corner that encourages you to slow down and unwind. Let Lighting Set the Mood As daylight fades, lighting becomes essential for setting a cosy, winter-ready mood. Ditch harsh overheads in favour of warm, layered options — floor lamps, dimmable sconces, or a soft-glow table lamp will instantly elevate the vibe. Aim for a glow that feels intimate and inviting, like golden hour at home. Add candles for extra ambience: unscented for entertaining, rich and moody for nights in. It’s an easy update that transforms any space into a snug seasonal sanctuary. SITCHU MAGAZINE Image Credit: Globe West @globewest
